The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has annointed me to preach good news to the poor.  He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives, and release from darkness for the prisoners,

to proclaim the year of the LORD'S favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,

and provide for those who grieve in Zion - to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.  They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.

They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.

Isaiah 61:1-4

     This scripture is the foundational passage of this ministry, and contains the only hope any of us have of achieveing sexual purity in our lives.  This passage is central to the entire bible, and describes the very reason Jesus came to planet earth.  In fact, when Jesus started his public ministry, this passage was the text for the very first sermon he preached. (see Luke 4:16-21)  After Jesus read this very passage in the synagogue, with all eyes upon him, he said "Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing."  In other words, Jesus was saying that this passage describes his very purpose, calling and destiny.  The reason Jesus came was to proclaim good news to the poor, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim fredom for the captives and release from the darkness of prisons, and to proclaim the day of God's vengeance.  Glory to God! 

     Do you realize what this means?  The very reason Jesus came was to deliver us from our captivities.  If you have struggled, like I did for many years, with the invisible chains of sexual captivity, the good news is that Jesus can set you free.  He is the one and only hope we have for deliverence.  Freedom will never come to our lives through trying harder, self-effort, or self-reformation.  Only Jesus can bring freedom from our captivities and release from the prisons that hold us.  I know, because that is exactly what he did for me.  There is hope, and his name is Jesus.  Your life can be radically different.  You can be set free to literally bring glroy to God through your sexuality.  Jesus can do for you what you could never do for yourself, and the good news is that he wants to do it.  After all, that's the very reason he came!  Find your way to Jesus and you will find freedom like you have never known before!
